Dynamic Background Setup Guide

Welcome to the Dynamic Background Setup Guide! If you are new to using the Shortcuts App, start from step one. If you are experienced with the app then skip to step four.

Step One

Click the 'Automation' tab in the Shortcuts App

Step Two

Click the '+' icon in the top right of the screen

Step Three

Click the 'Create Personal Automation' button

Step Four

Scroll down the list of automations until you see 'App' and click on it

Step Five

Make sure the 'Is Opened' has a blue check underneath it then click 'Choose'. Once you click the Choose button a list of your apps should pop up. Select all apps that have the same colour logo (eg: Mail & Weather)

Step Six

Once you have selected your apps, click the 'Next' button in the top right of the screen


(Note: Make sure the apps you chose are one of the following colours: Yellow, Blue, Green, White, Grey, Red, Orange, Purple and Pinkish Red!) Refer to step nine if you would like to use gradient colours instead

Step Seven

Click the 'Add Action' button

Step Eight

Search 'Text' in the search bar that appeared and click the first one

Step Nine

Type a colour into the text box that appears

Supported colours: yellow, blue, green, white, grey, red, orange, purple and pinkish-red

Supported Gradients: g/rainbow, g/instagram, g/blue_yellow, g/pink_cyan, g/blue_white, g/red_black, g/red_white

Make sure the colours are typed exactly how they are typed in the supported colour list!

Step Ten

Click on the search bar at the bottom of the screen and type 'Run Shortcut' and click the first result

Step Eleven

Click the blue 'Shortcut' text and select the Dynamic Background shortcut that you installed

Step Twelve

Your automation should look like the screenshot below. Once it does, click the 'Next' button at the top right of the screen

Step Thirteen

Turn both of the highlighted options in the screenshot off and then click 'Done' in the top right of the screen
